The Slipcover Process
01
Let's Start With a Photo
If you'll send me a picture or two of your furniture I can give you a rough estimate of yardage needed and any special considerations your piece might require, like foam replacement.
02
Let's Talk About Fabrics
Natural fibers like denim, duck and canvas make truly washable slipcovers. Whether you choose washable or dry cleanable fabric I can guide you along and order swatches.
03
Let's Move Forward Together
Fabric must be paid in full before work is started. When it arrives I'll be in touch and we can arrange to get the furniture to me. I'll be able to give a timeline for fabrication of your new slipcover.
I do the pin fitting and sewing in my Newnan, GA home workroom.
You can either deliver it to me or I can pick up/deliver for a fee.

About

For 13 years my husband and I traveled around the Southeast doing volunteer work. Since we were provided with a modestly furnished apartment at each location and since I've always had a love for a white sofa I made it happen on a tight budget with a slipcover. I learned from a Sunset how-to book which has now evolved into a pile of loose pages from overuse. As a lifetime seamstress it was a small jump from making a new outfit for me to making one for furniture. During the Shabby Chic era my favorite sofa cover was made from a couple of unmatching white matelasse bedspreads because that's just what I happened to have at the time. Wish I had taken pictures!
We eventually put on the brakes in Georgia and stayed in one spot. Finally, a permanent home of my own again. Below is the first piece I did, a quality hand me down sofa I covered in white denim, still looking great over 10 years later. Saving a good piece of furniture from the landfill with a change of cover is a wise investment.
Would you like to see your beloved piece of furniture enjoy an extended life in a new outfit? Or a seasonal change of color? Slipcovers are the way to go! I'd be happy to consult with you about fabrics and pricing if you'll contact me at hollysfamiliarseams@gmail.com
